Some people say that black symbolizes the absence of colours. In reality though, black is one color which makes a person’s presence felt very strongly if he or she is wearing it. It happens to be one of those striking colours which add the necessary oomph to an individual’s personality, be it male or female.

In the world of apparel and accessories, black can undoubtedly be crowned as the king of all colours. From sleek high fashion gowns for women and elegant tuxedos for men, to the most casual of t-shirts and jeans on the street fashion scene, black comes about as ultimately classy and yet, the most wearable at the same time. Celebrities wear black at award ceremonies to make sleek choices in dress, entrepreneurs wear it to their all-important meetings and students wear it to college to make a causal statement. Not only this, but various identity groups such as punks and Goths use black to stand out in the crowd.

Importance of Black Color

The importance of this colour in the use of accessories cannot be denied at all. Shoes, sandals, handbags, wallets, belts, mufflers, and scarves- you name it and black has something truly tasteful in it to offer. At a wedding, at a friends’ party, at your graduation day, at office and even at home, it is highly probable that you will be carrying at least one of these accessories in black. This is because black provides a totally dependable base to all colours. On one hand, it mingles really well with softer tones such as beige, pale green, light blue and mustard to give a soft look while on the other; it makes prominent any bold colour worn with it such as hot red, fuchsia, orange, magenta, yellow, chocolate brown and aqua to make the wearer roar with style!

It’s important for children’s shoes to be durable, comfortable, easy to clean, and good for their feet. Croc shoes surpass those expectations! It is slip resistant too, which makes it an ideal choice for park play or school. The Crocs Mary Jane comes in fourteen colors and is currently running at $19.99.

For a simpler style, consider the Crocs Wave. This flip flop is available for girls and boys, and it comes in solid black, fuchsia with cotton candy accents, lime with neon pink accents, and sea blue with red accents. The Crocs Wave is a simple summertime shoe that is great for everything from running errands to running on the beach!

The Crocs Gabby is a dressier shoe for girls. Designed as a ballet flat, it has a strap across the middle which pins to the other side with a Jibbitz butterfly accessory at the tip. The feminine design is appropriate in many venues, including school, church, or just to be out and about. At the awards shows, the celebrities wore quite large tiered earrings with no neck adornment. The bracelets were large and intricate. If a ring was worn, it was large and frequently showed a colored stone. If the celebrity wore a necklace, it was usually paired with small solitare earrings.

During Fashion week, we didn’t see the huge bohemian or gypsy jewelry of last year. The models wore only a couple of pieces of jewelry to acessorize their outfits. Clothing has gone more minimalist, feminine and even ladylike. The jewelry was worn to accent, not overpower, the clothing.

Models wore simple but chunky chains and layers of chains with a variety of shapes were seen. Some of the chains were sprinkled with beads, with others accented with small charms. Mixed metals, using gold and silver together provide a more casual look.

Cuff bracelets were seen on many of the models. Some of the cuffs are large but well fitted for easy wear and copper is being shown along with silver in some of these bracelets. Other cuffs were shown with a mass of brilliant beads.

Statement rings with lots of color are being seen everywhere from the runway to the red carpet and in magazines. Large colored stones are shown set in gold and silver, but even bead rings with a cluster of brilliantly colored glass and crystal beads are being worn in a more casual setting. Some of these rings are being worn on the index finger.

The big news in the jewelry catalogs is color. Swarovski has introduced out intensely colored crystals. Freshwater pearls in bright turquoise, fuchsia, lime and peach with unusual shapes are available for the jewelry designer along with a wide array of Millefiori beads for added color.

Brilliantly colored cords in leather, rubber and niobium are emerging to beused with the simple pendants being shown during Fashion Week. These simple pendants can be leaves, flowers or birds in gold or silver.

Save your big pieces from last year as they will eventually come back, but add a few large classic chains, cuffs and a big colored ring to update your jewelry wardrobe for 2007.
