Women’s Shoes are Driving me Crazy!
Women often say that you can tell what the man is like by the shoes he wears, but what about women? As women the world over change their shoes almost as often as they do their underwear, it’s virtually impossible to know who is in the heels. Because many ladies are dedicated followers of vogue they tend to wear what the fashion industry dictates rather than what they really feel comfortable and secure in. Men, on the other hand, tend to be more practical and opt for such attributes as quality, comfort, and support in a shoe.
But there are those that say it’s still very possible to know the woman behind the shoes and that it just takes a little more practice to read than it does with men. Some of you will remember the movie staring Tom Hanks called Forest Gump. There’s once scene where he says “Mama always said you could tell an awful lot about a person by the kind of shoes they wear.”
I’m not going to write in detail here about reading a lady’s personality by her shoes, but just as a taster many women have multiple shoe personalities although the favorite is usually is a high heel, and it’s this style which indicates strength, status and sex appeal.
Why Are Shoes So Important To Women? Now there’s a good question, but I think you would be better off asking a woman as she is more qualified to answer. Don’t expect a logical response though, as when I asked the same question to my wife (who has 16 pairs of shoes at the time of writing), she went on the defensive and said it was a daft question and not worthy of a reply!
In the Philippines, shortly after the Marcos regime was overthrown in 1986, opposition forces found Imelda Marcos had one thousand and sixty pairs of quality designer shoes in her personal collection at the presidential palace. I tell you something now, if we had the space in our house, and money was no object, my wife would have a collection to compete with Imelda’s, which would be closely followed by branded handbags. Don’t you just love them! Women that is!
Statistically, an average lady will aim to have a new pair of womens shoes every 3-6 months. Compare this with the average man and it’s not difficult to see that this is extreme. Okay, so a typical women’s shoe with a heel may wear out quicker than sturdy flat options, but I think woman should not be wearing heels all day every day anyway. High heels are extremely bad for the feet in the long term and can lead to all sorts of foot related problems later on in life, but you can’t tell them anything!
We all like our girls to look like women and women’s shoes are part of the female identity, but come on girls, give the purse strings a break and have less quantity and more quality in your collection. And STOP changing your minds so often and stick with a style and design that suits you. I have an Italian hand made pair of mans dress shoes that are still going strong some 16 years later. Timeless, comfortable, supportive quality, that keep my feet protected as a shoe should do. What does that tell you gals about me?
2010 Wedding Jewelry Trends
Now that the new year is in full swing, designers everywhere are showing off their new collections. The fashion industry is simply buzzing with each designers’ prediction of what’s going to be hot this season. Wedding trends are no different – this multi million dollar a year industry is just as excited about new, trendy fashions. With the recession still holding a lot of people (and their wallets) down, accessories are huge.
Traditionally, wedding jewelry is kept simple and feminine so that it accentuates the bride and her gown. This year however, big, bold jewelry is taking over the wedding scene. Layers are hugely popular and many brides will bring this into their wedding day attire. Large “bib” necklaces are expected to be a huge hit with brides this year. Vintage designed necklaces embellished with sparkling gemstones and soft, feminine pearls are the perfect statement piece to add to any gown.
If a large statement necklace is a bit too bold for you, there are a lot of other options! You can easily bring layers into your bracelets. Pile on the bangles for an exciting addition to your wedding day accessories. A great way to achieve a flawless look is to mix and match different styles. Instead of wearing ten strands of white pearls, layer just 2 or 3 pearl bracelets with a couple sparkly bangles. For that extra touch of flair, throw in some unexpected pieces like 1 or 2 strands of black Tahitian pearls. It will be a standout statement but still feminine and sophisticated.
Big chandelier earrings are also big this season and there is no reason to leave this trend behind on your wedding day. Vintage is all the rage this year so find long, dangling earrings with a vintage twist. Soft metallics like gold or bronze are good choices and white, ivory or rose pearls always scream vintage. When your hair is in all of its up-do glory, chandelier earrings will frame your face perfectly. What’s even better is that most likely, the earrings you find to wear on your big day will integrate flawlessly into your every day wardrobe, so go ahead and splurge a little!
Last but not least, don’t forget your hair accessories. Short veils woven with soft pearls or worn with pill box hats are going to be hot this year. Accessories this season are all about femininity and sophistication. To spice up your hair, wind a long strand of pearls around a bun for an unexpected touch. Or, find a beautiful comb or clip made of bronze or copper that is embellished with sparkly gemstones and pearls. No matter what accessories you choose to wear on your big day you are sure to be the star of the show!
Fashion Trends That Suit You
Fashion magazines and movies are the best resources for fashion trends. Electronic fashion magazines are also contributing a lot to the fashion industry as a whole. Casual-wear is marked with the return of skin-tight jeans. The teenagers are introducing them again although they were the first to abolish it as well. Funky T-shirts and long tops go well with skin-tight jeans. Fashions change with teenagers’ point of view. They are the most conscious class and always go with the changing trends.
Sophistication is linked with middle-aged females. They are making bold statement in the fashion horizon with the comeback of long forgotten styles. Velvet and cotton are predominantly used to weave the fabric – be it skirts, dresses or jackets. Velvet gives a classy and feminine touch to the clothing and makes you feel the same. Although vibrant shades are in vogue, yet earthy tones are overpowering them remarkably. Today’s fashion colors include grey, deep purple, royal blue and similar other shades.
Matching jewellery is a must now days. It’s no longer the gold’s predominance over all other types. Stones are making a definite entry into the world of jewellery. Diamonds have started sparkling as the most sought after stone, embedded in white gold or platinum. Girls prefer silver jewellery with their attire. Artificial or imitations are also available to embellish the attire.
Accessories also include bags as latest fashion-trends. Ladies prefer small matching bags for the party outfit, which are good enough to store few bucks and small tit-bits. Office goers prefer smart and sleek look and love to flaunt large leather bags. Different color bags are available to suit the style and go well with the dress. Shopping is also a fashion trend these days. People flaunt of the various stores available in the market as well as online.
The online stores enable large showcasing at one counter without any interruptions. Shoppers view their favorite fashion stores and select the items based on their size and preferences. mens-jeans CaliforniaAre Neckties a Symbol of Equality?
Patriarchy has always been the trend in many societies all over the world. In this universe, men are always regarded as higher than women. The female population has always struggled to fight for their right and equal opportunities. The dawn of the feminist movement has allowed more and more women to unchain themselves form the dictates of patriarchy and discover their potentials. At this point, women were able to prove that they were equals of men and patriarchy, although a resilient trend, can always be done away with. The corporate world then experienced the robust leadership of women and witnessed as more and more women outshone men in different fields of specialization.
Gender equality has manifested itself in a lot of ways. Even the fashion industry was not an exception. Women previously wore dresses ornamented with boughs and festooned with laces. Men wore scarves, ties and coats. From these dresses alone, you can equate women as being fragile and men being the stronger sex. Fashion was a status symbol, it was the status quo. But with the changing status of men and women, fashion went on with the flow and allowed women to wear pants, coats and neckties-pieces of clothing that were previously only for the distinguished sex.
Neckties are minute and sometimes trivial details of men’s wardrobe. This tie has stood by feminism and became the shining beacon of gender and class equality. If you try to look around, you will notice that neckties are not just worn by men, but by women as well with utter disregard to their political affiliations and social status.
All over the world, you will see that there are schools that require their students, both girls and boys, to wear neckties as part of their uniform. These neckties have no specific cuts or colors to distinguish each sex. However, the only distinguishing part of the uniform is skirts, worn by women, but then again, coats are still worn with neckties.
In the global economy, where there are both men and women players, there is no restriction as to who can wear a coat with neckties. Everyone is simply required to project an image o formality and decency. People wear coats regardless of their position and everyone wears a necktie, again, with disregard to whoever is more highly educated or has the authority. Everyone is afforded the right to wear a necktie in special occasions, business meetings, weddings, interviews and the like.
Neckties have always represented superiority and power. This piece of clothing accessory were worn strictly and exclusively by men and those who warrant respect and obedience. It was only for the distinguished few. But with the changing times, the neckties were afforded to everyone who deserve the same as respect as they are human beings and as such, have the same rights and warrant the same respect afforded to anyone.
No one should feel restricted to wear neckties. No one should even hesitate to do so. If you want to command respect from everyone around you, wear your tie. Not everyone knows what a necktie stands for but it’s about time that they do, through you.

Equality NecktiesFashion Trends In 1940s
World War II closed many fashion houses in Paris. Couture was among those affected by the re-education program initiated by the French government. German invaders took possession of French high fashion, and even considered the relocation of the haute couture to German cities Berlin and Vienna, both of which had little traditional history of fashion. These were some of the more significant changes in the French fashion landscape.
During those times, models in fashion shows were limited to a maximum of 75, while the time for evening wear was significantly lessened. Day wear was also made skimpier. In the 1940s, coats were limited to no more than 4 meters in length. Blouses were limited to be of at least 1 meter. But despite all these restrictions in place, the fashion industry pushed on, emphasizing humor as a way to defy the foreign powers.
While there were many fashion shops that closed down or relocation during the war, there were a few new names that opened shop. During the World War, women flaunted extravagance by wearing a hat. It was the only way they can do so without earning the ire of the authorities.
Americans took advantage of Paris’ isolation to show off their creativity. American designers introduced innovations in the way men wore work clothes. Sportswear among women also became more popular with American designers manufacturing more of these items.
In 1947, couturier Christian Dior made waves with his collection of dresses with tiny waists, and extravagant busts, a style similar to the Belle Epoque.
