Chiton – A Female Toga

So, that frat house on Greek row is throwing a toga party Animal House style and you don’t have a clue what to do. Well I would first suggest watching the afore mentioned movie actually I would suggest watching it regardless because it is a great movie.
Actually back in the day when the toga was stylish everyday wear women actually wore a Chilton. They are fairly simple in design but can be slightly complicated to put on so you may need your roomies help. All you need is fabric, a scarf or tie to belt it with and two safety pins. The fabric should be about a foot longer that you are tall and as wide as the spread of your arms.
A bed sheet should work for this just like a traditional toga. You want to lay the fabric out and fold it over about 2/3s of the way down. Then pick it up with the fold facing you and fold it in half length-wise. Remember to keep the first fold on the outside. Put it back down with the closed size on the right and open side on the left.
About a 1/3 of the way in use one of the pins to pin the back and front side together along the top. Use the other pin to fasten the back and front together about 2/3s of the way in. This creates the shoulder strap. So, Now you can have your roomie lift up the cloth and put your hand through the top beneath the safety pins and out the other side.
So your arm should be in the hole between the safety pin and the folded fabric. Put your head through the hole that is created by the two safety pins. The safety pins should be resting on your shoulder. You can wrap the extra fabric around you and use the scarf around your waist to tighten the fabric. And so you are ready to hit the party. Oh yeah don’t do anything stupid be careful what you put in your mouth.
