At Swishing Party Swap Your Clothes to Save Earth

In UK, according to BBC report, a latest craze of a unique party trend has charmed almost all the fashionable party loving women. Surely, these fashionable party animals assemble together to drink and dance.

But what follows after the merry making session is something stunning and rare. They start swapping! Yes..they start swapping, however, nothing but their old fashionable accessories and clothes.

According to the party rules, every participant has to bring any fashion accessory or fashion apparel, of course it has to be an old one but should be valuable. Then, these contributions are hung up on drying racks or hangers only to be swapped later.

After several rounds of wines, they wait for a whistle, completely entranced. No sooner than the whistle blows, after the drinks, than they start racing towards those old fashion products. The party rules allow a lady to choose as many things she wants, even if she had contributed a single dress or something else.

These unique parties have come up with some unique solutions and benefits too. Amazingly, the biggest beneficiary is nothing but our own loving earth which we are trying hard to save. Amazing enough…a party can save the earth! How?

About 900,000 tonnes of fashion garbage is dumped, according to a textile recycling charity, Traid, in UK every year. So, if such parties become common, a heap of to-be-dumped fashion products can go to other’s wardrobes instead of being thrown away.

Apart from saving the planet’s climate, it has another benefit too. It can help you save huge amount also. Won’t you prefer to go for a skirt, though old one but in good condition, which may cost more than $75 or so.

Yes..your search and urge for such parties, after knowing this much, is natural and practical. Step out of your home, please, and look out when such a party is held near you. Probably, there goes a swishing party tonight!

Shearling Coats – Warm and Luxurious

Shearling coats are a great way to stay warm, while appearing extremely luxurious. There are many styles of shearling coats made from many different brands. These jackets are great for men and women and I’ll discuss some different options for male or female while shopping around.

Shearling jackets are not cheap. For a quality coat, expect to pay a minimum of $500 although way up to $7,000 for the highest end jackets. One of the more popular shearling brands on the market right now come from Australia, UGG. For an UGG shearling coat, you’ll end up spending around $1,000 and up.

UGG also makes an incredible shearling boot, which is the product that put them on the map. These boots start at $110 and up, but will guarantee your feet and toes stay warm on those cold winter snowy days.

If you’re shopping around and want to make sure you’re getting the best quality shearling coat, always make sure it’s made from grade-A sheepskin. Grade-A quality sheepskin is more durable and it’s also more comfortable.

If you don’t have a budget for a sheepskin coat, but would still like the glamorous look then there’s still an option for you. Faux shearling coats are easily found and are a fraction of the price.

There are many reputable brands that make faux shearling coats as well. Steve Madden, they manufactured a faux shearling this year and it’s priced at $100. Victoria Secret also has their jackets, which are priced around $150. For men, Orvis makes authentic and faux shearling jackets as well.

In order to keep your coat looking good for many years, they must be cared after in the right way. Always dry clean them or hand wash. It’s also important to brush the hair as well. They make specialty soap which should always be used as well. To keep the color, do not expose to large amounts of sun.

Fashion For Emo Guys

Though changes are natural phenomenon in the world of fashion yet there are some constants that will always remain. It should not be forgotten that emo fashion has evolved from an anti-fashion, anti-consumerist subculture.

Let us explore the different items of emo fashion beginning with shirt. Emo T-shirt should be tight fitting and be at least 10 years old, if not older. A funny/ironic slogan is must be present on the shirt. Vintage t-shirts are probably the most recognizable “emo” fashion item around, especially on eBay that perfectly fits the purpose of an emo-T shirt.

“Ringer” shirt that was quite popular in the late 70s has made a big come back in the past couple of years. Jerseys are often seen as the lose cousin of “Ringer”. They are generally sports-related. Stripped Polo shirt is considered to be a universal clothing item, because it can be worn to an emo concert, to church, or even out on a date. Another most amazing selection for the emo guys will be IZOD striped polo. Western shirts with fancy embroidery is sure to rule the scene. Emo guys also prefer western shirt with crisscross design. During winter season there are several options to continue the fashion with emo warm garments. A jacket with a removable liner and the hooded sweatshirt, or “hoodie” is ideal.

Emo guys never go for shorts even in the hottest weather. They prefer pants of Ben Davis and Dickies made famous by the band Emo Summer. Head accessories are also an important part of emo fashion. You can find numerous classic trucker mesh cap with insane slogans, beer logos, or even plain old blank ones or you can also go for a nice warm beanie. Not to be missed out another important part of your accessory and that is your feet. The Converse Chuck Taylor shoes are classic alternate-wear that continued for many generations and genres. But due to some management problem the company went bankrupt. If you are sick of having the same shoes then hook up with a pair of 70s/80s athletic shoes like the Nike, Reebok, Saucony, New Balance and Adidas. You can find numerous knockoffs that are usually all man made, and there is no involvement of animal products.

A good collection of emo fashion is non-gender specific. Males and females can be found wearing any of the clothing. There are some fashion trends that are specifically emo girl or emo boy related but emo guys like to experiments with their self that is different from normal.

Fashion Magazines – Keeping In Touch With The Latest Trends

Most magazine racks feature a wide array of fashion magazines for both men and women. These publications keep their readers abreast of all the latest trends in fashion capitals such as New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and Milan. Their columns offer up-to-date counsel on wardrobe selection, hairstyles, makeup, fitness, health, and even intimate relationships.

Fashion magazines often aim at providing a glimpse at what is currently trendy in the fashion industry. These trends are usually extremely expensive. Following fashion can allow the readers to imitate it with in their own budget. Certain elements of fashion trends can be captures for less money.

These magazines can be useful in many different ways. From quick dinners, recipes, make up and beauty hints, work out routines to relationship advise, all these can be found in most magazines. Being devoted to the entire person and not just what they are wearing is the basis of most of them.

Adult males and females both have the chance to discover magazine subscriptions for fashion magazines tailored to their interests. This is true regardless of whether their style is flashy and glamorous, or more conservative and level-headed. A wide selection of styles and fashions are displayed throughout a large assortment of obtainable periodicals.

Many people criticize magazines of fashion upon several grounds. The most widespread criticism is that many people think the people in the magazines flaunt an unrealistic goal for the average woman: young woman will look up to these models, but not be able to achieve the same results. Several have tried to display more realistic models to stop this so the magazines are more accessible to a wider range of people.

Men may feel more awkward about subscribing to a fashion magazine, but there are many that are targeted to men. Men’s magazines often cover not only fashion, but often also work out routines, appearance and grooming tips. Although these magazines once appeared only to be a woman’s domain, many men’s magazines are becoming popular as well.

Ladies Tweed – Etymology of an Elegant Fabric

King George V and the late Alexander McQueen were big fans, as is the current British royal family; the enduring popularity of tweed is a testament to the quality and reputation of the material. But where does the name for this coarse woollen fabric come from?

This etymological tale also has a royal flavour to it and originates from one regal figure in particular, HRH The Duke of Windsor, the former King of the United Kingdom, who was forced to abdicate in 1936. In his 1960 autobiographical work ‘Windsor revisited’, he recounts an anecdote that apparently explains the story behind the name.

The material’s original name was ‘tweel’ – which is the Scots word for ’twill’ – meaning that the cloth was woven in a twilled pattern, as opposed to a plain one. A twill weave involves the filling threads being passed over one and under two warp threads, giving the appearance of diagonal lines.

According to the Duke, in 1830 or thereabouts, a London-based merchant is thought to have received a short note relating to some ‘tweels’ from a textiles business in Hawick, a town in the south of Scotland famed for its knitwear.

The merchant, not recognising the Scots term, misunderstood the hand-written letter, mistaking ‘tweel’ for ‘tweed’, assuming it to be it a tradename derived from the River Tweed that runs through the Scottish Borders region. As a result, the durable material was marked and advertised as ‘tweed’. Be it Harris Tweed, Silk Tweed, ladies’ tweed or its male equivalent, the refined product has maintained the misfit moniker ever since

Interestingly, as with many word-of-mouth accounts, this explanation is disputed by some language scholars. They have suggested that it is nothing but an appealing folktale – or urban myth, to give it a more modern spin – and that there is some evidence that the word originated from a parallel term for ’twilling’, also present in the Scots language (proposing the appearance of ‘twedlyne’ in 1541, as evidence for this linguistic theory).

If the Duke’s version is to be believed, tweed would not be the only product to have earned its name by virtue of an error or misunderstanding. Take arguably the fastest-rising brand of recent years, Google.

The tale associated with the beginnings of the all-powerful search engine goes back to 1997. Some students were assisting Google co-founder Larry Page in finding just the right name for the fledgling project.

When Sean Anderson, a computer science student, suggested ‘Googolplex’ (a reference to a powerful computer described in Douglas Adams’ ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’), Page stated a preference for the mathematical term ‘Googol’ on its own.

Anderson, in an act of verification that has since been referred to as the ‘$160 billion typo’, erroneously typed in ‘Google’ (rather than ‘googol’) to check that it was available, and the rest is now Internet history.

A search for ‘ladies’ tweed’ or ‘Harris Tweed’ on Google would therefore be an example of one accidental brand revealing another. Fortunately for both of these worldwide success stories, their slightly smudged start in life had no negative effect whatsoever on their future!
